David A. Gray, MA (Hons) 1985, MSc 1986
David currently works in the Development Partner Relations Department of the World Bank Group. David graduated in Geography (MA, 1985) and Geographic Information Systems (MSc, 1986) from Edinburgh before following his passion into international development. He worked for the UK’s ODA for ten years, with long term postings in Indonesia, Belize and the Caribbean. In his spare time, David enjoys motorcycles, travel, DIY, music, all things Apple, and long walks with his Labrador. He is an avid follower of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and tries to get back to Scotland several times a year to watch them “perform”. He is married with two kids.
Tara Richards, MSc 2014
Tara graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MSc in International Development in 2014. Prior to her degree in Edinburgh she received a BA in Politics and International Relations with French from the University of Kent. She currently works as an assistant supporting a team of international consultants carry out District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS 2) implementation for health programs. Tara serves on the Edinburgh DC Alumni Chapter Board as the Secretary.
Rachel S. Feinstein, MSc 2012
Rachel attended Edinburgh University during the 2011-2012 school year and received a Master of Science degree in Global Crime, Justice and Security. During her time at Edinburgh she represented her program in the post-graduate taught committees in both the School of Law and the School of Social and Political Science. Prior to attending the University of Edinburgh Rachel earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and participated in a study abroad program at the University of Cambridge where she took courses in politics and medieval studies.
Anais Azoulay, MSc 2014

Originally from wild western Maryland, Anais Azoulay graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MSc in International Development from the School of Social and Political Science in 2014. Prior to this, Anais attended the University of Delaware and received a BA in International Relations with a minor in Spanish. She currently works at the Rainforest Alliance as a Coordinator for the Institutional Relations team, working towards conserving biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices, and consumer behavior. In her spare time, Anais enjoys traveling, looking at puppies online, trying every whisky/whiskey spot in DC, and serving on the University of Edinburgh DC Alumni Chapter Board as Coordinator of Special Events, planning fun social activities for our members!
Emily Patton, 2012
Social Events Coordinator
Emily is a NoVA native, and after her postgraduate diploma in Criminology and Criminal Justice (2012) from the University of Edinburgh, she returned to the area to make a positive difference in her community. Prior to her degree in Edinburgh, she received an MSc. in Abnormal and Clinical psychology from Swansea University and a B.A. in Psychology/Criminal Justice from Lycoming College. She currently works as a criminal justice researcher/analyst in the big city. Outside of work she is a passionate social justice advocate, serves on the board of NARAL Virginia, and is very active in supporting and advancing progressive causes. She spends whatever free time she can find with her cats, Lil Mac N’ Cheese and Hillary Rodham Kitten, and enjoys reading Garth Nix novels. She serves on the Edinburgh DC Alumni Chapter Board as the “happy to speak in public” member.
